What to Tell the Dispatcher
Have these details ready
You do not need everything. These details help the dispatcher send the right crew.
- The address and whether it is a house, condo, apartment or business space
- What happened and when it started
- Where the water came from and whether it has been stopped
- Whether the water may be contaminated, such as from a toilet or sewer
- Whether water is near electrical panels, outlets or appliances
What Happens After You Call
The dispatcher confirms the address and the source, then gives safety steps. If a crew is available, you are told so and a same-day response is arranged. If not, you hear that plainly and are told what to do in the meantime.
On arrival, the crew checks the water type and the extent of the wet area with moisture meters, explains the scope and the price, and starts only after you agree. The first visit is usually extraction and setting the drying plan.
Condos, Apartments and Managed Buildings
If you live in a managed building, call building management as well as our line. Ask who holds the water shutoff for your unit, whether the elevator or loading dock can be reserved and whether the association requires a certificate of insurance from contractors.
Having these answers ready speeds up the first visit and keeps neighbors informed.
While You Wait
Shut off the main water valve if the source is inside the building. Lift valuables and electronics off the floor. Turn off power to wet areas only if you can reach the panel while standing on dry ground, and leave and call 911 or the utility first if water has reached outlets or you smell gas.
